About Us

Company History

The Cost Segregation Group was founded in 1999 by Paul Di Nardo, CPA to satisfy the needs of his real estate client base. Paul realized that commercial property owners could reap significant tax savings through properly applied cost segregation methods, which were just being developed at the time. Along those lines, he established a cost segregation practice designed to meet the highest industry standards while satisfying adapting IRS qualifications.

Cathy Harris joined the group in 2000 and continued the tradition of providing the best documented, most fiscally responsible cost segregation studies. As cost segregation became commonplace and subsequently subject to more IRS scrutiny, Cathy set out to deliver the most carefully prepared studies in the industry. She and Paul put together a team of CPAs and engineers who would launch an efficient system of processing accurate, dependable cost segregation studies.

In 2006 Paul and Cathy teamed with Commerce Clearing House (CCH) to write what is considered the definitive text on cost segregation, Practical Guide to Cost Segregation. The manual is now in its third edition, and it continues to be used to educate cost segregation professionals.

In 2007, Cathy joined the newly-organized American Society of Cost Segregation Professionals (www.ascsp.org), and became active in setting its Minimum Quality Standards, the industry guidelines for cost segregation providers. Cathy is now a Certified Cost Segregation Professional and an officer of the ASCSP.
